Singer/Songwriter Sam
This evening I found Sam downstairs with the microphone. I asked if he would sing something for me, and this is the performance he ad libbed. A musical genius with a Care Bear band-aid on each knee.

Mom's Hair
My hair has been getting much too long, and yesterday it became necessary to braid it. Sam and Jude were amazed. "Wow, Mom, what are you doing?" I sat on the floor so they could appreciate how skilled I am. Sam observed that my hair "looks like a football twisting around and around." Such flattery.
I got a haircut yesterday afternoon and my hair is significantly shorter. This morning I asked the boys if they noticed anything different about my hair. Sam looked and thought for a long minute before announcing victoriously, "It's shorter! Maybe a dragon ate it! Or maybe a tiger."
Jude's theory: "They pulled your gray hair off and put it in a coffee cup with some tea."

Salad People
This was a very proud night for the family nutritionist. These are "salad people" that we made for dessert, so Sam and Jude were eating celery and carrots and cheering about it. Marketing seems to be a very important part of parenting.
Jude's salad person is above, Sam's below.

Perfect Morning
The boys and I spent the weekend with my brother and his wife. Yesterday morning was nearly ideal: perfect weather, happy children, happy adults, an awesome playground and a walk to the lake. They spent at least 30 minutes on this tiny merry-go-round with only one scraped knee. Owen was obsessed with changing horses. I think the "yeyo" one was his favorite.
